The steps below will go through restoring a Centos 7 system with software RAID 1 VMWare instance to the IONOS environment.<\/p>\n

Test from scratch:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Create server image on IONOS with just 2 disks<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Add Cdrom<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Boot from Acronis rescue image<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Choose Rescue Media<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Go to Tools Menu and choose \u201cVolume Representation\u201d change to linux-like representation<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Choose \u201cManage this machine locally\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Choose \u201crecover\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Choose \u201cSelect Data\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Click \u201cBrowse\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Select Cloud storage on left and then choose \u201cLogin\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  11. Login with contract-backup unit name and password<\/span><\/li>\n
  12. Click OK<\/span><\/li>\n
  13. Choose backup file then click \u201cHide Archives and Backups\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  14. Click check box at top of each section to select all disks and files<\/span><\/li>\n
  15. Click Apply RAID\/LVM configuration<\/span><\/li>\n
  16. Leave defaults and click \u201cOK\u201d to begin restore<\/span><\/li>\n
  17. When complete click close<\/span><\/li>\n
  18. Upload a Centos 7 install ISO to your DCD environment, follow instructions here https:\/\/docs.ionos.com\/dcd\/administration\/images-and-snapshots<\/li>\n
  19. In DCD select CDROM drive and set image to Centos live Iso<\/span><\/li>\n
  20. Resolve errors that come up by setting HD volume metadata to linux<\/span><\/li>\n
  21. Right click on server and go to console<\/span><\/li>\n
  22. At Centos Boot screen choose \u201ctroubleshooting”<\/span><\/li>\n
  23. In terminal\/console run dracut -f<\/span><\/li>\n
  24. Then choose \u201cRescue a Centos System\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  25. Choose 1 continue<\/span><\/li>\n
  26. Press enter to get shell<\/span><\/li>\n
  27. Chroot \/mnt\/sysimage<\/span><\/li>\n
  28. Run command blkid and screen cap for UUID reference (or can take UUID from grub2.cfg)<\/span><\/li>\n
  29. Run dracut –mdadmconf –fstab –add=”mdraid” –add-drivers=”raid1″ -f \/boot\/initramfs-3.10.0-1160.42.2.el7.x86_64.img 3.10.0-1160.42.2.el7.x86_64 your kernel.img and version will probably be different, enter your own versions for initramfs-your kernel and your kernel number again<\/span><\/li>\n
  30. Vi \/etc\/grub2.cfg<\/span><\/li>\n
  31. Change first set root with mduuid to new UUID no dashes<\/span><\/li>\n
  32. Change kernel path section from dev\/md2 with ROOT=UUID=new UUID with dashes<\/span><\/li>\n
  33. grub2-mkconfig -o \/boot\/grub2\/grub.cfg<\/span><\/li>\n
  34. Vi \/boot\/grub\/menu.1st and change UUID as changed before in \/etc\/grub2.cfg<\/span><\/li>\n
  35. Boot from disk by selecting boot from local disk in centos DVD boot menu, or detach\/delete CDROM drive from your instance and set first disk as boot in IONOS DCD.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
