backup<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"content-container\">\n<p><strong>Goal: Restore Ubuntu backup within IONOS DCD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Create a backup<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a backup by following these instructions <a href=\"https:\/\/ionoslabs.com\/index.php\/ubuntu-backup-agent-install\/\">Ubuntu Backup Agent Installation and Backup<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Get the recovery ISO and upload to your DCD<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Getting Bootable ISO for restore<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get bootable iso by going to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dcd.ionos.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/dcd.ionos.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2192 Backup Console \u2192 your backup unit<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to the Devices \u2192 and select your instance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the Right Nav select \u201cRecovery\u201d and then from the upper right \u201cMore ways to recover\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select \u201cDownload ISO Image\u201d<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note the registration token like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">F594-0384-4079<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once downloaded, upload the ISO to the new data center outlined here \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ionoslabs.com\/index.php\/ftp-iso-upload\/\">FTP ISO Upload<\/a>\u201d note the name Boot_media.iso<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note: the ISO upload and scanning process can take approx 20 minutes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Step 3: Setup an instance to restore to<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setup instance in new DC to restore to<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Login to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dcd.ionos.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/dcd.ionos.com<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a new VDC in the data center to restore to<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the new VDC drag and drop to create a new instance with the same specs and the instance to be restored from example:\u00a0 same CPU, RAM, DISK.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drag and drop to attach the CD ROM drive object (See cdrom setup video here)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When asked for which image to connect select the previously uploaded Boot_media.iso<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check the box to boot from device<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Provision the changes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Step 4: Perform Recovery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perform Recovery<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dcd.ionos.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/dcd.ionos.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> VDC right click on the recovery instance and select \u201cConsole\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Acronis boot screen select the \u201cRescue\u201d option<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose the \u201cRegister Media\u201d option<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enter the previously copied registration token<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose the \u201cRecover\u201d option<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select \u201cData\u201d and in the next screen click \u201cBrowse\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You should see the backup for your source machine under the \u201cCloud Storage\u201d list<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select that item and click OK<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the backup contents section change the drop down to \u201cDisks\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select all of the \u201cDisks\u201d and click OK<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click OK in the final screen to begin the recovery process<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the recovery is complete click \u201cClose\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Close the Console screen and within the DCD remove the CDROM by right clicking on the CDROM and choosing \u201cDelete\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the remaining Disk and change its OS type to Linux in the right Nav drop down and click on \u201cMake Boot Device\u201d button in the upper right<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click Provision Now to apply changes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your recovered instance should now be ready for use<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div
